From zero to marketing hero: marketing tips from my work experience

Chris' Top Marketing Tips

Table of Contents

From this week, I’ve picked up some essential strategies to elevate your marketing game. From smart AI usage to consistent content and effective promotions, these tips can make a real difference. Let’s dive in!

1. Leverage AI, But Don’t Over-Rely on It

AI is a great tool for refining content, generating ideas, and improving grammar. However, it’s important to use AI as an assistant, not a crutch. Relying too much on AI can lead to inaccuracies and dilute the originality of your work. Balance is key—use AI to enhance your content, but keep your unique voice front and center.

2. Consistency Is Key

Consistency in content creation is crucial. Posting too infrequently, like every two weeks, can result in lengthy content that might overwhelm your audience. On the flip side, posting more frequently, like daily or every other day, keeps your audience engaged and shows your commitment. Regular content not only builds trust but also increases the chances of interaction and engagement.

3. Maximise Every Promotional Opportunity

Always be on the lookout for ways to promote your product or service. For example, while refining social media strategies this week, I also helped Matt with his podcast, which highlights local businesses. This collaboration is a great example of free and effective promotion—finding ways to get your message out there through different channels.

4. Invest in Tools to Boost Efficiency

Efficiency is everything. Investing in tools like Plannable which allows you to create and schedule posts across multiple platforms, can save you time and effort. Plannable also helps tailor content to fit the specific formats of different platforms, making it a worthwhile investment for any marketer looking to streamline their workflow.

5. Target Your Marketing Efforts

Tailoring your marketing to your target audience is crucial for success. For example, I’m currently focusing on small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that may struggle with marketing. By keeping my messaging relevant and avoiding unrelated topics, I’m ensuring that my content resonates with my audience.

6. Strong Calls to Action (CTA)

A strong call to action can make all the difference. Strategically placing CTAs across your website and social media can drive user engagement and conversions. For instance, To start my week off I went to a company called Colva promoting boat show tickets with buy links embedded not only on their website but also in every recent social media post. This consistent approach makes it easier for users to take action.
